ANEW maintenance depot which has been built by Reed Transport, Ltd., at Aylesford, Kent, will be opened by Mr. Harold Watkinson, Minister of Transport, on October 25. The building has a total floor area of over 27,000 sq. ft. It will provide repair facilities for 200 lorries and vans, 100 cars and 50 items of plant.
There is a sunken workshop, and the tracks for supporting vehicles driven in for inspection can carry a load of nearly 30 tons.
The Minister will also see a parade of nearly 20 vehicles representing the types operated by the company. Among them will be a tanker for the transport of liquid china clay.
