Andrew Haines, president of the Freight Transport Association (FTA),addressed the MSPs (members of the Scottish parliament) as he launched FTA Transport Policies for Scotland—a document. detailing the needs and aspirations of Scottish Operators.
Haines said operators need to continue to cut greenhouse gas emissions, but emphasised that a start has been made. "Our members have already prevented carbon emissions from
rising despite, still delivering to the growing economy,he said.
"The next phase will actually see the beginnings of reducing emissions as a consequence of improved engine technology, fuels and overall efficiency."
