THE HEADLINE of the article in CM 30 August,'Delayed launch for longer London loading times', is slightly misleading: the delayed pilot scheme applies only to the City of Westminster and not the other 33 London boroughs.
I, personally, do not believe this scheme is flawed, as it is not the same as recommended by London Councils— namely that the 40 minutes will run as and when the yellow line bans are in operation, which means they give us something with one hand and take it back with the other.
I say this because now the 20 minutes does not start until 11 am, while many yellow lines come into force at 8.30am. Currently between 8.30am and 1 I am one can have as long as it takes to load/ unload — this will cease with the new London Councils rules.
Also, we don't know when the remainder of the boroughs will he changing to their 40-minute rule, if they ever do, as it is up to each individual borough to implement these proposals.
