MERCEDES-BENZ has joined Volvo in offering an "eco-roll" fuel-economy device on its BlueTec 4 and BlueTec 5 range of Euro4 and Euro-5 trucks.
It shifts the truck into neutral when there is no torque requested. Volvo launched the system on the FH two years ago:now Mercedes is offering its EcoRoll as standard on models equipped with the Telligent automatic transmission. Fuel con sumption is said lobe cut by 1%.
Mercedes has also introduced a power mode for its Telligent auto box. It boosts performance by raising the shift points of the gearbox, freeing up all the available power.
