ALOADING device with particular applications in confined spaces is being manufactured by the Montgomerie Reid Engineering Co., Ltd., Bramley, Hants. It is of 10-cwt. capacity, the load being carried on a platform mounted on two arms pivoted on the main structure.
Attached to the upper arm is the piston of a hydraulic ram which may be operated manually or by power from a battery-driven 12.-volt. motor. In the power-operated model a built-in charger is available so that the battery need not be removed for charging purposes.
The loader is strongly built of welded steel, and at a point farthest removed from the load is a counterbalance. Stability in loading is given by the braking mechanism, which comes into action when the towing handle is released.
A number of attachments is available so that various types of load can be dealt with. It is known as the M.R. Wheelabout and costs £130 for the manually operated model, and £175 for the powered model. With hand and power operation the cost is f195. The charger is available as an extra.
This loader is distributed in this country by The Western Hire Co., Ltd., 17 Central Chamber's, Ealing Broadway, London, W.S.
