Driver escapes despite missile hurled at truck

• A Hoyer International tanker driver had a lucky escape when youths hurled a brick through his windscreen in Hampshire.
The incident happened at around 7pm last Tuesday on the M271 at Nursling in Southampton, as the 60-year-old Bradford driver was en-route from Runcorn, Cheshire, to the Hythe area.
PC Nick Adam from Hampshire police says: "The windscreen of the vehicle was smashed and the driver, although badly shaken, was able to pull safely onto the hard shoulder. Anyone who witnessed this incident, or who saw the youths responsible on the bridge, should contact us immediately."
A spokesman from Hoyer declined to comment while the police investigation is on-going.
This is the latest in a spate of projec tiles being thrown from bridges at passing vehicles.
Surrey police are still hunting for the killer of truck driver Michael Little, who died from heart failure after an object was thrown through his windscreen from a footbridge over the M3 at Camberley, Surrey on 21 March (CM 27 Mar-02 Apr).
