• Pay talks in the Metropolitan area have broken down after union officials threw out a pay offer of 210.80 — a rise of 8.47% a week. However, southern drivers are being advised by union leaders to accept a similar pay offer of 8.47%. The package is worth E10.80 for drivers of 32-tormers on a 40-hour week who were originally offered £9.00. 11 includes four weeks' holiday, and a discretionary extra day for long-serving drivers.
