He says that due to a legal anomaly, on-site dumper drivers are required to have evidence of training but road-going tipper drivers need only an LGV licence. Gillis contends that such training is an implicit statutory requirement in workplace equipment legislation from 1998 and points out that self-loading crane, skip and hook-loader drivers require certificates.
Gillis charges about 275 per person for a one-day course at the customer's premises using their equipment.
