• An application by Albanian Coaches Ltd, St Albans, Hefts, to add a picking-up point at Letchworth Green on feeder services to St Albans was refused by the deputy Metropolitan Traffic Commissioner, Mr W. M. Levitt, last week, owing to lack of evidence of need. Additional unopposed picking-up points at London Colney and Colney Heath were granted, however.
The feeder service has been operated for some time to connect with the company's express service from St Albans to Clacton and Walton-on-the-Naze.
Mr E. G. Hewitt, director of Albanian Coaches, admitted that he had not asked London Country Bus Services Ltd if it intended to reinstate a service withdrawn last year, which provided a link to Garston, and that he could not produce a breakdown of people carried from Leverstock Green on his express services during the year.
Mr Levitt, after a brief adjournment, agreed with Mr Kennedy-Brown, who represented the objectors, Rover Bus Services, Chesham, and B and B Coaches, Berkhamsted, that no case had been presented to the court.
