THE TC has curtailed the O-licence of John Butlin, based in Birmingham, to 13 vehicles and eight trailers with immediate effect and given director Martin Butlin a formal warning with regards to his good repute as a transport manager. Undertakings on the licence include: ● Safety inspections will be pre-planned and never more than four weeks apart. The preventive maintenance inspection reports will be fully and properly completed and show rectiications.
● There will be a nil defect daily driver reporting system. Defect reports will show rectiication.
● The operator will undertake a random audit of at least one driver per week to ensure drivers are undertaking their walk-round checks correctly.
● All authorised vehicles and trailers will have a rolling road brake test every three months, not including the MoT.
● Maintenance systems, maintenance documentation and vehicle inspections will be audited by a trade association within six months and then annually. Audit reports will be prepared and acted upon. After two clear audits, the operator can seek to be released from this undertaking.
● All authorised vehicles will have a thorough preMoT inspection.
