WAVING a platform length of 26 ft.,
I a Seddon-Carrimore articulated outfit was employed by Graham Adams, Ltd., New Malden, Surrey, this week to deliver Mr. Donald Campbell's Bluebird speedboat to Southampton, from which it was due to sail yesterday aboard the s.s. United States.
Bluebird is 25 ft. long and 10 ft. 3 in. wide, and was contained in a wheeled cradle with steerabIe front axle to facilitate handling. The boat was loaded by a winch. It was collected from near Reigate on Saturday, together with a spare Metrovick Beryl jet engine and a Rolls-Royce engine used in a previous record-breaking attempt and intended for exhibition, also some cases of models and trophies.
These were packed for shipping and placed on the Carrimore with the speedboat, and the escorted outfit left New Malden on Wednesday. The Seddon tractor is a new type with a plastics cab. Mr. Campbell is to try to raise his ow.) water-speed record.
