The main frame. of 5-in. by 21-in. roiled-steel channP1 bas, with the threequarter-floating hypoid.driving axle, six large-section cross-members to ensure
rigidity. Rear-wheel steering . is employed, the axle being centrally pivoted to give a float on each wheel of 12 in.
A Petter two-cylindered air-cooled oil engine drives through a heavy-duty constant-mesh gearbox which provides three forward speeds and reverse. Maximum speed in third gear is 15 m.p.h. Open-centre track tyres are fitted to the driving wheels and are said to give sufficient traction to permit the ascent of a 1-in-4 gradient (unladen).
With a base and back of 1-in, and 3116-in, steel plate, the skip is of allwelded construction and has a Struck capacity of 1 cu. yd. The payload on uneven ground can be as high as 30 cwt., whilst the water capacity is
16 cu. ft. Lip height is 3 ft. 41 in. Tipping is effected With a hand lever, automatic resetting • being achieved through the balance of the skip when empty.
