ccording to MAN, apart the environmental advans, the asbestos-free Jurid linings have double the of conventional linings. y also protect brake drums reducing their tendency to ■ rrn and suffer from scoring and heat crazing of the brake drums.
MAN's current eightwheeler chassis, including the 30.240, 30.291 and 30.331 rigids, are being fitted with them because of their high stop-start work patterns.
The announcement follows the recent prediction by Mintex Don (CM June 7) that all new trucks introduced over the next five years will have asbestos-free brake linings as standard.
