• Investigations by Department of Transport vehicle examiners into fatal accidents involving lorries should be published, Junior Opposition transport spokesman Peter Snape has urged.
Roads Minister Peter Bottornley told him that the examiners have alreayd carried out examinations of the lorries involved in fatal accidents at Maidstone, Manchester and Cadmore End in Buckinghamshire last month.
Police reports have been requested and the Department of Transport will get them when they are completed.
However Snape says he sees no reason why they should not be published in the same way that rail accident inquiries reports are published.
"I can see no reason why Department of Transport inspectors following up road accidents should not have their findings published," he told CM.
