ICELANDIC SHIPPING group Eimskip is selling its majority shareholding in the Containerships Group as part of its financial restructuring programme. The company, formerly the parent of the collapsed Innovate group, has decided to dispose of its 65% shareholding to minority shareholders and Containerships' parent organisation, Container Finance Ltd Oy.
Eimskip and Containerships had been involved in a joint venture (JV) agreement since October 2006.
Charles Patton, UK managing director of Containerships, which is based at Teesport, reveals: "The new owners are the people who originally established the company.
"They have been shareholders all the way through. We don't expect any big changes."
