Yodel snaps up former City Link Midlands hub
PARCEL CARRIER Yodel is adding a ninth hub to its network after acquiring City Link's old West Midlands depot.
The company has acquired the freehold to the 121,000ft2 facility in Wednesbury, which will open next summer. The hub was previously occupied by City Link, which moved its operation to Coventry (CM 1 July),
Yodel CEO Jonathan Smith says: "We are very excited about this development as it strengthens our ambition to become a £1 bn business. We must continue to invest to reach this aim, and will only achieve this by providing unrivalled choice and great customer service. The Wednesbury site will reinforce the breadth and depth of service offering to our clients and their customers for many years to come."
Yodel purchased the domestic B28 and B2C businesses of DHL Express UK in March, when it traded as Home Delivery Network. The firm now has combined assets of 5,000 vans, nine hubs, and 120 service centres.
