FORD is to use its own C3 lutomatic transmission for the Genk-built Transit range, replacing the existing Borg Warner 35 unit.
The C3 is built at Ford's Bordeaux factory and used in the car range from Escort to Granada.
It is already available as an option on the Escort van but it will not yet be available on Transits.
Official Ford reason for dropping the Borg Warner is that it is cheaper to use an in-house component.
