5 wo lorries carrying Guinness kegs valued at £100,000 were hijacked by armed gunmen on the Irish border last week — fortunately for a thirsty nation the 54,000 creamy pints were later recovered in Dublin.
The raid began when six men, carrying pistols, entered the Irish Rail depot in Dundalk, County Louth, and ordered the staff to give them the keys to the lorries.
Irish police, the Garda, reckoned it was one of the biggest hauls in a long time. At first the Garda reckoned the IRA was behind the attack but eventually concluded it was the work of "OM's" — ordinary decent criminal& Alt, well, that's all right then.
