ONE of the chief difficulities experienced when fabricating parts by welding in sheet metal lies in keeping the respective units in correct relationship. This can be accomplished by the use of jigs, but where, ferrous metals
are concerned the magnetic device produced by Donald Ross and Partners, Ltd„ 1-3, Arlington Road, London, N.W.1., possesses obvious advantages. It consists of two magnetic blocks measuring 2 ins. by 1 in. by 1 in., connected by a pair of 3.1-in. metal straps.
For holding steel plate, the company makes heavy-duty magnets giving •a maximum pull of 275 lb. with a 0,005-in. air gap. Where heavy steel plates or sections have to be held in position for welding, the magnets can be easily fixed to suitable brackets.
