Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A FIVE-MAN action committee representing some 850 drivers has been formed in North Staffordshire to fight some of the proposals in the new Transport Bill. Their aim is to publicize what they feel will be the effects of the Bill on their livelihoods.

Mr. E. Child, a long-distance driver with Beresford Transport Ltd., of Tunstall, was last week elected chairman of the committee. The committee plans to write to and advertise in local and national Press and to promote a "sticker" campaign on road haulage vehicles.

The action group was the men's idea entirely, said Mr. G. Drake, managing director of Longton and North Staffordshire Transport Ltd. Some employers, however, had agreed to form a joint delegation to meet the five MPs who represent North Staffordshire, early in the new year.

Drivers hope those in other parts of the country will support them by forming their own groups. They concede that not all parts of the bill are bad but fear many long-distance drivers will become redundant if quantity licensing is introduced.
