IVECO HAS SHIPPED an approved used Stralis Active Space 6x2 tractor to Tanzania where it will be used for driver training.
The truck, bound for Tanzanian capital Dar Es Salaam, has been donated by Iveco to industry development charity Transaid, working in partnership with the National Institute of Transport (NIT) to address the shortage of skilled CV drivers in the country.
It’s an initiative supported by a consortium of European transport and logistics com panies, including Iveco, with the shipping funded by Car dinal Maritime and Eukor, says Iveco press and PR director Nigel Emms.
“There is a massive short age of skilled HGV drivers in sub–Saharan Africa and very little quality training is availa ble. Transaid’s work with the NIT is already making huge strides in training bus drivers; we hope the arrival of the Stralis will help to provide the resources for truck drivers to benefit in the same way.
“The provision of a vehicle with an automated EuroTronic gearbox will also ensure drivers are trained using the latest driveline technology.”
