IF YOU PUT drivers on the road, you need to be sure their eyesight is not going to cause them or anyone else to be at risk. This week CM brings you a wallchart in association with Specsavers Corporate Eyecare outlining your responsibilities under the law and the best ways to keep eyes healthy.
Regular eye tests are essential because they do not just uncover short or long sight, but also more serious health conditions such as glaucoma or age-related macular degeneration. A recent BBC pro gramme suggested that 13 million drivers have not had an eye test, and one in three drivers could be dangerous due to poor eyesight.
"Every transport manager should be checking when his drivers last had their eyes tested," says CM deputy editor Louise Cole. "This is an essential part of health and safety."
