THE WORLD'S smallest longwave ultra-violet lamp is claimed to be the "Shirt Pocket" model from P. W. Allen & Co. Measuring 5.72x1.9x16.03cm (2.25x0.75x6.31in) and complete with a simulated leather case, the lamp is designed for those needing a small batterypowered u-v source.
The lamp uses four Alkaline 1.5v "Penlight" batteries (international size AA Mignon LR6) and runs for a minimum of three hours continuously; with intermittent use, battery life will be several days, claim its makers.
Incorporating a miniature 15.2cm (6in) 4W flourescent tube, the lamp weighs 200g (7 oz), making it a suitable u-v source for exhibitions, trade shows, galleries and retail establishments. Other features include: on/off slide switch, integral wall hook which folds down to form a desk-stand tab, and a standard arm strap.
