• Hyundai will launch a turbodiesel variant of its recently introduced H100 panel van this summer.
The 2.1-litre engine was launched in Korea last year and it is now coming on to the export market.
The company also wants to introduce a CDV based on the Accent car. "The car derived van sector is very healthy in the UK and having one ourselves would give structure to the range," it says. "At the moment it only exists in left-hand drive but we may see one in late 1999 or 2000." Last year Hyundai sold a total of 500 naturally aspirated panel vans—it expects to sell 1,500 in 1998.
Hyundai says South Korea's economic crisis will have no impact on its vehicle business and will not affect the UK's supply of vehicles.
