One of Kogers new trailer models that caught many eyes at the IAA Show last year was its Phoenixx M49, which weighs in at under five tonnes. It does this by using a wide range of materials, including carbon fibre and aluminium.
Kdgel chairman Alexander Tietje explains how the Phoenixx came about: Our Phoenbo< range resulted from a study in 2006. We showed all possible parts of the trailer that could be made of carbon fibre and narrowed that down to the trailer neck to reduce the thickness."
Of course, introducing such a revolutionary trailer to the market is by no means an easy feat, but, as Tietje says: "We have said it is expensive and tricky to build, and it is currently undergoing testing to make sure it reaches government compliance."
These tests, as he says, are mainly to meet government regulations, but they will also give operators piece of mind that it is durable and good for everyday use. For any change, no matter how good it may be, it will generally be looked at cautiously to begin with:
