Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN all-metal pantc.tchnicon body recently built by Arlington Bodybuilders, Ltd., High Road, Ponders End, Enfield, Middlesex, is of particular interest by reason of its size. Excluding the Luton front, the inside dimensions of the body are: Length . 22 ft. 3 ins.. width 7 ft. 1 in. and height 10 ft. 10 ins. The Luton section is 4 ft. 6 ins. long. 7 ft. Iin, wide and 6 ft. 2 ins, high, so that the total

capacity is approximately 1,850 cubic ft.

The body is mounted on a •Seddon passenger chassis, which provides a normal body length of 19 ft. 8 ins, To accommodate the pantechnicon body, the chassis has been lengthened by introducing a Baico extension, which adds 2 ft.: 1 in. to the wheelbase. whilst a further. 6 ins, has been added to the rear of the frame members. As altered, the wheelbase is now 17 ft.

The only other departure from the standard specification is the use of special commercial-type rear springs. •

Low Unladen Weight

By the use of light alloys throughout the construction of the body, the unladen weight of the complete vehicle has been kept down to 4 tons 2 cwt., but it is possible to bring it under 4 tons. The framing is of high-duty aluminium alloy, and the panelling of 20 s.w.g. duralurnin, all joints being made with Chobert cadmium-coated rivets fitted with sealing pins.

The rear of the body is closed by a 3-ft. 10-in, tailboard with double doors above it. The doors swing right back. so that they can be clipped against thee body sides. Flooring is of ;-in. tongued-and-grooved hardwood, and the wheelboxes of 10 s.w.g. duralumin covered with g-in, plywood to conceal the rivet heads.

The cab, which seats two people a6 including the driver, forms an integral part of the body, and to present a front with unbroken hues, the bodybuilder has "enclosed" the Seddon radiator by taking the lines of the cab forward of it. Access to the radiator is readily gained by removing a grille, which is held in position by two locks at the top.

Visibility has been ' considerably enhanced, as welk as the physical' appearance, by the use of' curved' Perspex corner panels in the cab.

Advantage 'ha's been taken of the fact that the body sides coVer the fuel tank by :dan:ging a small door over the filler cap. This door. can be opened •

• only by.means of a key: Alongside the door is a window. through which the fuel-lank gauge can be read.

Halls (Finchley), Ltd., Odeon Parade, North Finchiey, London, N.12, supplied the vehicle and the operator is Stonehill Furniture, Ltd.. Angel Factory Colony, Edmonton, London, N18. It

• will be used under a C licence to carry new furniture, and not fcir removals work.
