y good pal Martyn Barrett from Southampton writes to update me on the goings on at the Volvo Truck Club. Seems the members have just completed restoration of a 1971 F88-240 day cab. Some of you may have seen it last weekend in its newly pristine glory at the International Lledo Show at Duxford, Cambs. If you were there you would also have spotted the F88-290 pictured, restored over four years by Monty Guildford of East Peckham, Kent at a cost of £18,000. Now, that's what I call a serious enthusiast.
New club goodies introduced include window stickers, a "Save our 88" T-shirt to raise funds for restoration projects and the official Volvo Truck Club tie. Martyn sent the Hawk a sample of the latter and it is so smart, as well as fashionable, that nary a day passes when I do not wear it to the office. Rest assured, Marlyn, lam the envy of all other CM hacks.
