• High-profile haulier Eddie Stobart is closing part of its distribution complex in Northamptonshire following the loss of a
contract Commercial director Richard Butcher confirms that a 13,500m2 unit at Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal
(DIRFT) will be vacated later this year.
"We are tied in there with a long-term lease," he explains. "We are considering sub-letting one of the warehouses because of a contract coming to an end and we have to fill the space. It will leave us with 65,000m2 which we still occupy—we remain fully committed to DIRFT."
Last year the company slashed more than '120 jobs in the rpn up to Christmas with the closure of its depot at Stamford, Lines, and cutbacks at depots in Kingstown, Carlisle, and Lillyhall, Workington (CM 7-13 Dec 2000).
