11)C drivers working on a contract with Boots are suffering "uncertainty and frustration" because of the retailer's failure to follow through on its announcement earlier this year to switch contractor this summer.
That is the opinion of the Transport & General Workers Union which has hit out at the retailer's foot-dragging approach in naming TDG's successor to handle distribution from five depots, (CM13-21) February).
TUG revealed that at least 50 jobs could be affected because of the loss of the contract.
Firms thought to be in the running for the work include Nottingham hauliers Clearway Distribution and West Transport along with big names Tibbett & Britten and INT.
But Boots has still not revealed the company's identity, although it was understood to be preparing an announcement as Chfwent to press this week.
The change of contract should be a straightforward Transfer of Undertakings (TUPE) arrangement, according to TGWU regional industrial organiser Alan Tiplady.
"Our members are frustrated and concerned about what is going to happen from July and who they are going to work for," says Tiplady. "I don't think they have been treated very well"
