Grocontinentat expansion plan flies in the face of recession
MULTI-TEMPERATURE logistics company Grocontinental is bucking the recession and kick-starting a £6m expansion plan.
The Whitchurch, Shropshire-based familyrun firm, has completed the construction of a £3m refrigerated 80,0001t2 warehouse to cope with increasing Christmas volumes.
As part of a £3m upgrade to its fleet, Grocontinental expects to take delivery of 46 DAFs and MANs by the end of the year, making a total HGV fleet of 60.
"We've had a good year, including a major contract win and an increase in sales," says joint managing director Linda Grocott. David Grocott, joint managing director, says: "Each year, we experience a 10% uplift in demand for storage, which has been challenging to accommodate. Now we will have the capacity to cope with these extra volumes."
