The Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers and Importers was created in 1978, largely at the request of the Health & Safety Executive. Its three principal objectives are:
• To promote the safe use of lorry loaders.
• To ensure that the Association is involved in the formulation of any legislation that affects the industry's interests.
• To promote compliance with training requirements embodied in current legislation.
It remains the only trade body representing the lorry loader industry, with a membership list comprising every significant player. Run very much by and forthe members, a significant part of its work is the establishment of working groups to find solutions to specific problems such as this engine-management system issue.
