DHL gets behind the first Logistics diploma in schools
DHL IS BACKING the first diploma course to put logistics and the supply chain on the curriculum in schools.
From next September, the Diploma in Retail Business will be available in schools and colleges. Each course has a component dedicated to logistics and is available at three grades for 14to 19-year-olds.
DHL has joined up with Skills for Logistics, Skillsmart Retail, and the Institute of the Motor Industry. along with major retailers to tailor a course that will educate young people about real-world business practices and the role played by the logistics industry.
Mark Parsons, vice-president for busi
ness development at DHL Supply Chain, says: "This is the first time logistics has been on the agenda in schools in its own right. We need people who understand how business works, how logistics fits in and who can understand our clients' businesses, whether retail or manufacturing."
