SOMEONE in the EEC thought it would be a good idea to buy a Citroen estate car to lug paper backwards and forwards between Luxembourg, Strasbourg and Brussels. Then someone thought it would be an even better idea to convert it into a 26ft-long six-wheeler, presumably so that the Eurocrats could produce even more paper.
According to two British EuroMPs, this mobile waste-paper bin has now cost £18,600. This, they say, would have bought five Ford Transits, which could each have carried half a tonne more and made the journey quicker. MEPs are thus having to wait unnecessarily not to read even more bumf.
This could explain the difficulty in reaching an EEC common transport policy.
