A HIGHER STANDARD of vision is required for a revised and simplified form for medical tests on applicants for heavy goods vehicle licences.
New applicants will have to satisfy a more stringent test on eyesight, although this will be the only change brought about by the form.
The revised form lists the health conditions which could stop the Licensing Authority from issuing a licence. Applicants will have to sign a statement on the form allowing the medical adviser to make medical enquiries on behalf of the LA.
The forms will be issued through Traffic Area offices and will be available from May. The move coincides with the publication by the British Medical Association of guidance notes for doctors completing these reports.
