Norfolk operator Pegasus Freightlines has fitted the curtain to a 13.6m trailer, and reports fuel consumption improvements of between 3% and 9% on a regular route to Scotland compared with a conventional curtainsider.
• The recently merged Kalmar and Sisu Terminal Systems are now operating as Kalmar. The firm will exhibit a Kalmar Magnum ET-120 trailer-handling tractor at the IRTE Show in May.
• Volkswagen is to extend its free maintenance offer on all LT panel vans and chassis-cabs until the end of June. All LTs delivered before then will have two years (or 60,000 miles) of free servicing, maintenance and emergency assistance.
• The Atego will not be appearing at TipCon this week, as we stated in last week's TipCon preview; our apologies to Mercedes-Benz. Instead it will make its UK debut at the IRTE Show in Telford on 1 3-1 5 May.
• Hill Hire has ordered 100 curtain-sided trailers from Utility Trailers. The trailers will be fitted with BPW running gear, including the firm's ECO hub system.
