• Vacuum Superinsulation (VSI) containers developed by Messerschmitt-Bolkow-Blolun (MMB) of Munich-Ottobrunn, are filled with a non-compressible, inorganic powder to provide pressure resistance and then evacuated. This makes it possible to reduce the outer jacketing to foil thickness. MBB's VSI can economically solve insulation problems which previously remained unsolved.
MBB has meanwhile started production of flat components which can be used to construct panels, boxes, containers and storage tanks. VSI, it is suggested, can be used in vehicle bodies, tanks, boxes and ISO containers, and in the building, energy storage and energy supply industries. MBB International, September.
