• 'limber hauliers in the Grampian region appear to have escaped the threat of weight restrictions on minor roads.
The Forestry Commission and local timber-carrying operators have been told that the 7.5-tonne GVW limit proposed by director of Roads George Kirkbride to protect minor routes from damage due to felling operations will not be necessary. Grampian Regional Council's vacation committee has agreed to allow tendering for a 2750,000 repair scheme for the affected roads.
