A GLOUCESTERSHIRE packaging firm has bought a new truck to make sure it does not repeat an overloading offence.
The 225,000 purchase was revealed after Evesham Specialist Packaging of Walton Cardiff, near Tewkesbury, admitted overloading a vehicle and was fined 21,017 with 2148 costs, Dominic Green, prosecuting for Vosa, told Solihull magistrates the offence came to light during a routine inspection at Quinton, near Birmingham.
He said the vehicle carrying cardboard was overloaded by nearly a tonne, which would have affected its brakes and steering.
Transport manager Alan Hale said staff had been negligent in not realising the vehicle was overloaded. They had now been briefed about loading and the firm has spent 225,000 on a 17-tonner.
