• CLEPA. the European association of parts manufacturers, has made a submission regarding the extension of block exemption to the EC's Director General in charge of competition.
It says: Tarts manufacturers must be free to make the origin of the parts readily recognisable in a plain manner regardless of their destination, without the vehicle manufacturers obstructing in any manner the common identification of such parts."
This is designed to counter what the parts manufacturers' see as a growing insistence that the truck or car makers' name be on the component in place of the their own, The parts manufacturers say that some vehicle manufacturers' abuse their buying position by making the change of name a precondition of any contract.
