Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NEW STANDARDS have recently been issued by the British Standards Institute for the strength requirements of towing brackets and coupling balls for light trailers.

BS AU 114a lays down the strength requirements for components designed for towing of light trailers of not more than 3.5 tonnes.

The standard is technically equivalent to ISO 3853 dealing with mechanical coupling de vices of both the one-piece ball type and ball couplings incorporating a number of parts.

A second new standard, BS AU 170, measurement of reflectance of rear view mirrors, covers the requirement for testing both flat and convex surface mirrors and is based on ISO 5740.

Copies of these and other standards are obtainable from BSI Sales Dept, 101 Pentonville Road, London Ni 9ND.
