LONDON BRIDGE may not be falling down, but some of the capital's other bridges could be without the Greater London Council knowing much about it.
The GLC told the Armitage Inquiry that it is worried about the effect which heavy lorries could have on some of the bridges, especially those opened before 1922.
And one of the biggest mysteries is how the Albert suspen sion bridge stands up: its inner most secrets are lost even or qualified structural engineers.
"It's like the bumblebee which no one can prove car fly,'" an official said.
