Transport consultants are often called in to act as expert witnesses.
Say a warehouse operator's floor begins to crack up just a few weeks after construction ends. A consultancy, says Gwynne Richards, could send in an expert to represent either the construction company or the warehouse firm.
Expert witnesses are often fielded by both parties: settlements may be made out of court, or the consultants could assist in any legal proceedings.
