olice are testing a new way to beat car thefts — it involves leaving an unattended car in an area where thieves have a record of striking.
When the would-be joyrider breaks in the car automatically locks from the inside making escape impossible and immobilising the engine. The vehicle is aptly named a "rat trap".
The Hawk hopes this ingenious scheme can be adapted to teach truck thieves a lesson, although God help any scoundrel found by the haulier before the police arrive.
