• This is the first picture of heavy haulage specialist Unipower's new 6x6 tractor.
Along with its 6x4 stablemate the Unipower tractor will replace the 25-year-old Scammell 524 Contractor.
Watford-based Unipower has been working on the S24 successor since taking over the Scammell business from Rover in 1988. The new vehicle, which has yet to be named, will have a Cummins 14-litre 347kW (465hp) engine as standard, but other power units can be specified, says the company.
The level of accommodation will be on a par with a premier road truck," says Unipower. "The old cab was workmanlike."
Unipower is also due to launch an 8x8 military vehicle and Detroit vee-eight-powered 6x6 airfield crash tender this spring.
