JUNE HAS AGAIN shown a continuing but slowed decline within the jobs market.
The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC.) and KPMG's Report on Jobs showed that permanent placements are still declining, but the June fall was the weakest in 13 months.
The numbers of vacancies also fell at the weakest rate for several months, as did the demand for agency staff, Kevin Greene, chief executive of the REC,says:"The UK jobs market is showing signs of life."
However, the head of business services at KPMG, Mike Stevens, suggests that the signs of improvement may be the result of flexible working and reductions in hours, which have taken place across a number of 1 industry sectors.
