CONTAINER HAULAGE specialist Norman Offer (Transport) has gone into administration but there are plans to sell it as a going concern.
The Southampton-based company was set up 35 years ago; it employs 17 people.
MD Martyn Offer says its fleet has shrunk from 25 tractor units to eight over the past year:"It's general pressures that everyone is under — high fuel prices, driver shortages and everyone chopping rates to unrealistic levels.
"I honestly don't know how much we owe but it's mainly VAT and income tax."
He adds that six employees were made redundant before the company hit problems earlier this month.
Administrator Jonathan Lord from insolvency practitioner Bridgestones says Norman Offer is well estab lished in the container haulage market: "We are therefore confident that the right purchaser can be found."
