Plans by logistics firm TDG to expand its operation in Nottinghamshire have provoked fury from local

villagers. Jennifer Ball reports.

RESIDENTS IN A picturesque Nottinghamshire village are up in arms after TDG was granted permission for 24/7 deliveries to its West Hallam site.The firm also has permission to build a new warehouse at the depot.

TDG has been based in Ock brook village since 1962; it wants to expand its site there to service its contract with Direct Wine.

The firm has designated a route to the depot that avoids Ockbrook: however,local residents claim that some drivers continue to drive through the village.

The parish council has lodged a number of letters of concern about the noise pollution and damage to local roads. But Gary Sewell, TDG's general manager at the site, says the planning inspectorate concluded that the proposal would have a strong beneficial effect on employment with no unacceptable effects on the living conditions of residents on the approach roads.

"We have taken on board all the comments regarding our site —and of course we intend to see how we can continue to make further improvements," he adds.
