WORKERS AT WINCANTON could be forced to pay extra money into their pension funds even though the logistics company plans to sell depots a nd offices to fund its £11 Om pensions deficit.
A Wincanton spokesman declines to say which offices and depots are up for sale. He adds that the question of whether drivers will have to pay more into their pensions is something that has yet to be discussed.
W mcanton is to contribute /Am to the pension scheme in two instalments, one before the end of the financial year and the second early in the new financial year. This will leave a deficit of about £70m.
• T&G union officials will meet Wincanton bosses again this week in a hid to save 400 jobs at a distribution centre in WdHingh rough.
