/ Drivers are among the 300 workers being made redundant at Castle Cement when it shuts its Pitstone, Buckinghamshire site in August. A fleet of 36 trucks will also be sold.
A total of 36 drivers, eight fitters and 11 ancilliary staff will lose their jobs. The site will remain open until the end of the year as a trailer park.
Castle Cement blames the closure on falling demand for cement and the "availability of more economically produced material" from its other sites.
Cement has been loaded from Pitstone since 1937. Production will now be concentrated at Ketton, Lincs; Ribblesdale, Lanes and Padeswood, Clwyd.
