"he Hawk recently reported the success story of David Fowles, aged 14, who has passed his CPC in bus and coach operations (CM 2-8 May). Readers were invited to write in if they knew of any younger CPC holders.
Step into the spotlight Catherine Scarborough and Michael Grevett, both aged 12 when they took their CPCs. The youngsters took their courses through Somerset-based firm Friendberry, with Catherine passing her PSV national examination as long ago as February 1986. That should ring a bell because CM ran the story on 1 March 1986 under the headline "Catherine breaks CPC record".
Michael Grevett, son of haulier Bernard Grevett, passed his CPC national freight examination in December 1990. "He was helping his mother study her pre-course notes and obtained better marks in the mock exams," says Michael's dad, adding "at the moment he has ideas of entering transport management — any offers?"
Catherine is no stranger to the transport industry either — her parents are John and Marie Scarborough, directors of Friendberry. Catherine is . now at college.
